One Day More!

and then sign ups will be open!
This could end up changing (Patrons still have until the end of the day to claim a spot), but it's looking like there will be about 23 open call contestant slots to be filled. Which is a higher percentage than a normal season of Survivor! :D
Maybe I should start hanging out in bars to recruit more people!
Seriously though - I do need to warn folx again - this has some of the trappings of Idol. But this is very much Survivor. You can vote for your favorites on their entries - but the people who are eliminated - you will be voting them out! There will be strategy. I'm sure there will be actual alliances formed as time goes on, if they aren't already being formed. Most people are going to be coming in with pre-existing relationships, which is always rough when it comes to Survivor.
This isn't going to be a physically grueling adventure of a lifetime. But it could be grueling in ways that Idol isn't.... and toward the end, Idol can get pretty grueling. Granted, we aren't playing for a prize - and a million dollars does change how people feel about being voted out! So does physical and mental exhaustion, and you will be playing from the comfort of home. That said, I've seen some ORGs (online Survivor games) that have still managed to end badly. I think we have a great group of people who just want to have some fun with it. So I trust that we can accomplish that goal. But I also want to make sure that I'm warning people - this is a long term commitment. If you sign up, you are part of the Jury making the final decision at the end of the game, regardless of how long that ends up taking! (I know how Idolers are, with many of them dropping out of sight as soon as they are eliminated. I don't want to put the "if you quit, you are off the Jury" rule that Probst added. But if it starts happening, I reserve the right to implement it. )
I'm not trying to talk people out of playing. But I want those who do decide to sign up to know what they are walking into. Idol has some trappings of Survivor, because I love it. But this is Survivor with some trappings of Idol. If nothing else, seeing your first tribal council is going to convince people of that. :D
I'm REALLY looking forward to opening the doors tomorrow.
But for those who have gotten this far in the message, and are actually following before the sign up date - here's a little something for you:
The sign up procedure is going to be as follows:
send me an email saying you want to play.
Once I confirm that a spot is open - and give you the donation details (where to send. Paypal and Venmo are both options) you will have an unverified spot. (Held for 24 hours. If I don't receive it by then, the spot is no longer held)
Upon receipt, I will email you again verifying your spot.
This *should* keep us from going over on the amount of contestants and let me know how much actual interest there is in this experiment.
Sign ups will be open until we reach 32 contestants OR Monday, whichever comes first.
