Last week results are in, and it's another Sudden Death Write Off!!! (in retrospect, this mini season should have been called "Sudden Death Write Off") therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1175899.html

The new prompt is up though for those who want to get started. therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1176122.html

How was your Thanksgiving? ( For those in the US who celebrate. )How was your Black Friday? (For those who celebrate.) How was your weekend? (For those who celebrate? :D)

Anyone looked up the definition of the new prompt yet? Any ideas flowing?

OK, this is my entry for the write-off.

I hope you enjoy reading it, I'm running out of time today, so have to get thinking about the next LJ Idol challenge, in the hopes that I might actually survive the write-off and get to post an entry with the Final Five.

Why hello, Very Silent GR :looks around: I attribute this to the fact that Thanksgiving was late this year, so there's not really a lot of time before Christmas, aka OMG EVERYBODY MUST SHOP! Traffic is nuts. We're currently in our post Thanksgiving lull at work but we have to start ramping up for Christmas within the next week or so.

Wabisabi reminds me of the Japanese practice of when you break something like a plate, you piece it back together with gold leaf paint so the break becomes an integal part of the plate. Or, you can look at the plate as being an entirely new plate because of the break. It's to remind you that nothing is permanent, and there is a beauty in that.

BTW, Easter is late next year -- not until April. That means Ash Wednesday is in March instead of February. We do pazcki (Polish donuts) the 40 days before Lent. They are an utter PITA. I'm going to crawl under a rock.

I'm really sick, and only just logged on here, and I misread the prompt as wasabi, which shows how hopped up on meds I am rn 🤣💀

I would much prefer wasabi as a prompt!

Gary, what is it with you and all these Japanese words?

I enjoyed the one Welsh word you used as a prompt, hiraeth. It's such an evocative concept.

On the flip side, might I suggest schadenfreude as an eventual prompt?

My mom has been sick for over a week and couldn't come over for Thanksgiving, although I masked and took her food. As of last night she is staying at my house because she is suddenly afraid to be alone. I'm glad to have a house where we have space that she can stay.

Black Friday we drove to Nashville for our niece's hockey tournament. It was the first time we saw her play in person so that was fun. :)

I'm currently waiting for the doctor to call with results of my mom's ultrasound which she had on Tuesday. It shouldn't take two days to get an ultrasound read.
