Green Room - Sign Up Week - Day 8

If you are one of those people waiting until the last minute to sign up, it's here! Come on in and see the elephant!!

http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/711493.html

You know you want to!

At very least, you can see the picture of the elephant.

Or perhaps cosplay the elephant.

Or Elephant-Bound, and show up to see the elephant cosplaying your favorite elephant!

Maybe you can be casual cosplaying the elephant, by wearing something grey or eating an elephant ear!

Also of note, Week 0 entries, for those doing their Introduction, are due tonight at 10pm EDT! So I hope you remembered to change your clocks yesterday!

***

Also of note, I'm still pretty much asleep after a weekend at the music festival. So please use your "inside voices" while I go back to napping. I sure my boss won't mind!

Hopefully LJ will actually post this one to the correct place instead of glitching again! :)

Seriously. I swear writing a simple introduction is harder than... well, than most things, to me.

[identity profile] sweeny-todd.livejournal.com 2014-03-10 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
it WAS hard! and is, I should add.

and then I wrote something which I thought was clever, and kind of introductory, but all I did was confuse people. Which, I guess is a reasonable introduction to me... :-)

I was going to take the "easy" way out and have some of my characters introduce me, but it fell so flat. The only thing harder than introductions is an open topic. XD

I wrote three different intros and went with the one that sounded the least stilted. Or, as SO said when he read it, the one sounding closest to my heart ;)

If I had that much trouble writing an intro, god knows what I'll be like once we get into the swing of things...

I started three versions of my intro, but I haven't finished any of them because they all sound so stilted. I'm trying to determine if this is indicative of how it's going to be in future weeks or of just how much I hate introducing myself.

I'm blaming my work exhaustion. When I'm in walking dead mode introducing myself (or hell, even writing anything remotely coherent) is the last thing on my mind.

That could also be an issue in my case. Work has been nutso for me the past few weeks.

Intros are hard, especially when you've done a bunch of them already! Fortunately, I had my Ridiculously Huge Stash of Icons (tm) to fall back on, so I was happy with that (even though it was html-HELL)!

You can always use the three starters, like a "take one"... "take two"... "take three"... oh, to hell with it! and/or link to prior intros you've done? Better something than nothing, even though it isn't mandatory that you do one. :)

You could pair up with someone - an unofficial intersection - and introduce each other, if that's easier.

That's a really good idea, if Gary would allow it. Too bad I didn't think of that (because no way, no how am I going to be able to find a partner and write a thing in time now).

Seems legal to me. The topic is "Introduction." It doesn't specify what or who to introduce.

There might still be time. I don't think you're the only one in the GR who hasn't written one.

I'm in an all-day conference call development thingy for work, so I will be going straight from that to pick up my son (who generally isn't great for letting me write in the evenings). I'd feel pretty bad for the person whose intro I was doing.

Although hey, if anyone is reading this (and Gary hasn't said no to it) and wants me to intersect with them with the above caveats (i.e. it will be an intro written at the last minute with a child climbing all over me and might be awful), feel free to drop me a line. :)

Nope. I haven't written mine either. What to write that won't bore people to tears!
