Another automatic elimination week - but just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water... another twist comes to light.
This one is by far the most power ever given to a single contestant, so make sure you win this one, or make sure whoever does win uses it wisely!
Whoever has the MOST votes will be given the power to BRING BACK UP TO TWO PREVIOUSLY ELIMINATED CONTESTANTS!
You can bring back two, you can bring back one - you can choose not to exercise the power at all. You pick the two and then they are asked if they WANT to come back...if they don't, well then you've wasted it, so you might want to make sure they do ahead of time if possible!
Voting starts now and will continue until Thursday Sept. 14th at 5 pm EST.
Good luck!!

Date: 2006-09-13 07:49 am (UTC)Most of those who are no longer in the game have dropped out rather than been voted out, and some of those players posted very little before fading. Those who are left in are those who've made the effort to post something every week (I don't know about anyone else, but sometimes it *does* take an effort to do this, just for the sake of participation). Now it's a case that those efforts have been pointless, not to mention the entire voting procedure, because as of next week some contestants are coming back?
Nah. Sorry. I can understand immunity and suchlike, but this makes me wonder why this is formatted as some kind of game rather than just asking people for their opinions on certain subjects each week in a discussion format...

Date: 2006-09-13 03:27 pm (UTC)I think it would be a better prize if there weren't so many spoilsports who dropped out. Oh . . . um . . . what did I say?

Date: 2006-09-13 05:24 pm (UTC)I think everyone else pretty much dropped out voluntarily or didn't get entries in. I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

Date: 2006-09-13 11:50 am (UTC)I was going to ask if you or Hilary perhaps put together a list of the people that were 'eliminated' that actually *want* to be allowed back in? And while I do totally understand the 'didn't have time to write anything' cause for eliminations, I don't think that truly falls into the same category of 'not enough votes to keep them'. Does that make sense?
I guess I can understand the 'past work should count for something' argument, I'm just wondering seeing as how two people I rallied to keep through immunity and pimping for votes are no longer here...if they [the generic they as in all those not here now] really want to be here anyway.
I hope this comes across the right way, I'm not trying to be all 'too bad for them!'-ish or anything, just wondering what, if any, the clarifications are on being voted back in. lebonheurbum said she was relieved to be out, what if someone votes her back in because they loved her writing, and she resigns? Is it all just 'oh well, part of the game?'
I hope this doesn't make me sound like an ungrateful whiner, but it is because I *have* been surprised at the support I've gotten here and seen how this thing can turn around that I'm so excited and 'into' it. I don't think it'll be my choice to make anyway, I just wanted to ask about these specific concerns.
Thanks again to everyone that has been a part of this...I'm sorry if this came out all wrong and pooptastic! (how's that for vocabulary!!)

Date: 2006-09-13 12:38 pm (UTC)Again, not to 'bitch' or complain. This is a wonderful experience for me as I'm making new and exciting friends and if it hadn't been for LJ Idol I probably wouldn't have met half the people on my friends list now.
However, most of the people that have left have dropped out due to time constraints and not because of votes. They voluntarily dropped out, so what would the point of bringing them back mean?
I'm sure the intention and the idea was good and certainly threw a loop into things, however I feel it would work better if it had all come down to votes. The immunity contest was good - that was a prize, but bringing someone (two people back) gives us two more people to contend with and we've worked hard to reach the point we are now, not wanting to have *more* competition.
Does this make sense?
Probably not but I hope you get my general meaning and that it doesn't come across as being whiny. Whatever you decide to do, I'll back you up because the main point of this is *fun* :)
Just something to think about :D

Date: 2006-09-13 02:34 pm (UTC)Why? Because you can bring back UP TO two people. That means you can CHOOSE TO BRING BACK NO ONE!!!
Some people are going to want to bring back someone - like, for instance, I can see Kelen bringing back his buddy Jason who missed the deadline... or, there are other examples out there but I don't want to speculate too much.
Much like the Outcast tribe on Survivor, I expected there would be a HUGE chasm of differing opinions on this one - however, as Probst said on Survivor, if you are truly the best of the best, then bringing them back shouldn't really be a problem...*g*
And to answer pix's question - if someone says they wanted Bonnie back in the game, I would then ask Bonnie if SHE wanted back in the game. She would say no, and there you would go, it would be a wasted vote from whoever won this round.
(also, Idol HAS brought back people voted off before, so there is a precedent there as well.)
Basically, these sorts of things are done so you DON'T waste a week of "I wrote this - and nothing happened this week" which tends to be the #1 complaint in a automatic elimination week...

Date: 2006-09-13 04:25 pm (UTC)Exactly my point...why waste it to begin with?? *shrug* I mean, I see the point of twists and surprises, it just seems like if people genuinely don't want to be back in it, they shouldn't be part of the people to be considered.
Also, yes, Idol brought people back that were VOTED off, not people that quit on their own. Just sayin'.
I know this is your game and you can do whatever you want with it and I'll play (well, to a point haha) but these were just things I had going around my mind this morning.
(also as far as the 'I wrote something and nothing happened week' I think [again, just my view] that if people drop out, it should still be a double elimination of the REMAINING contestants.)

(plus I'd never be THAT cold-hearted to not let anyone back in, you saw what happened with the immunity, I couldn't NOT use it!)

Date: 2006-09-13 05:28 pm (UTC)Well, being the anal person I am, I just counted the number of people on MY friends list and the community's. That's 23. Exactly how many votes I have. Sure, there could be a couple here or there that didn't vote for me, and someone not on my list that did, but I haven't talked about it in my lj at all yet, so I don't anticipate many more votes.
