First! Everything is fine here, or will be until the next prompt, when panic will set in, followed by anxious writing, and then the deadline, which is aptly named. And yet, I willingly choose to participate. Go figure.

Yay! For the polls. Just finished reading the entries that have been posted and there is a lot of amazing stuff which I would love to vote for :)

I'm doing relatively well, all things considered. I went to see Steve Vai perform live last night -- He's celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the release of his album PASSION AND WARFARE, so he played all the songs from that record, with a few extras pieces thrown in.

My hubby and I are each taking a bit of a wicky day today. I'm still feeling just sick enough that I don't want to risk getting the kiddos sick and Rick... well, he's just mentally exhausted. So we're taking a day to spend together. Not thinking about housework, not thinking about things we should do. Just watching some movies (right now, "X-Men: Apocalypse") and spending time together.

Because sometimes, that's what you need.

Drinks are bad.

I'm mostly out of the shock/denial stage and into grief. So, feeling really sad for our country, for its future, and at the idea that it seems as if a lot of people would have to be really angry and hateful to choose someone so unqualified and racist to run the country.

Think my entry is about done, so will probably post by the deadline. Formatting (or rather, DE-autoformatting) will be involved, and sometimes that takes awhile. It helps that I just did that last week, since I posted a poem, since I usually forget the magic "keep my spacing" HTML code.

I'm up and down right now. I find I'm saddest when I'm seeing other people's reactions, because it takes me out of my own little bubble of a world. But I'm trying to remain compassionate and understanding for people from all sides and perspectives. I shared some thoughts on Facebook yesterday, about how I talked to my eldest son about the election results before school, and over 70 people reacted to it. I was blown away by that. I wasn't expecting such a vast response. And that included two friends-of-friends who I don't even know.

I'm hoping I'll be able to dedicate more time to reading intros today, because as of tomorrow, I'm driving down to Southern California with my improv troupe, and I probably won't have time to read then. And so far I've really enjoyed the entries I've read, so I'd like the chance to get to know a few more people before the week 0 poll goes up.

Gary, do you have an ideal number of people you'd like to see sign up before you'll consider closing the sign ups? I'm hoping I'll have some opportunity to talk about Idol when I'm at the improv festival this weekend, in case I can get anyone down there interested in signing up.

I wish I had something but I've got nothing :shrug:

I've triple checked that I've posted in the veterans thread. The logical, sane, rational part of my brain accepts this.

The neurotic, crazy part thinks I should check again that I haven't accidentally posted in the newbie thread.

I'm going to bed now.
