Good morning.
For me, the last day of sign-ups/the last day of the deadline is like Christmas morning where I'm about ready to see what is under the tree! It takes a really long time to fully unwrap it, and see the winner inside. But the experience itself - and the anticipation of it, is always really exciting!

Currently, we are waiting for a little less than 100 people to post their Week 1 entry. I'm predicting that there will be some folks who forgot to follow the community and thus already missed the first topic. (one of the dangers of a "slow start" is that people could wander off) Knowing Idolers though, there is probably going to be that traditional rush to post in the last couple of hours!
Today is a "short day" at work. Although I'm not entirely sure *how* short it is going to be. (Rumors being notoriously inconsistent)
For those of you in the US, what sort of Thanksgiving plans do you have? For those who aren't - what sort of turkeys have you been dealing with this week?

Date: 2016-11-23 01:42 pm (UTC)I'm still up in Maine and will be for a couple more weeks. My dad took a bad fall earlier this month and can no longer do all the things he used to do around the house. I'm here to offer moral support to
T-day plans include missing my husband (who is back at home), watching the Macy's parade with my family here, and a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Date: 2016-11-23 01:55 pm (UTC)This week has been awful.
Tomorrow we are having dinner with friends that are part of our chosen family.
I am just so exhausted. At this point, I just feel like all the fight has gone out of me and I want to curl up in a ball.

Date: 2016-11-23 04:02 pm (UTC)Tonight we'll eat dinner from the Whole Foods' food court - always fun because everyone gets exactly what they want! - and we have tickets to all go see Fantastic Beasts at this cool theater nearby with recliner seating. This is one of my fave family dates we go on.
Tomorrow it will be just the four of us for Thanksgiving, which is rare. We usually go to my mom's in Fla but this year she is having surgeries and begged off.
I suggested taking the fam to this resort in the mountains near here that I discovered. They have a big buffet with turkey, ham AND fried chicken and all the great sides, plus sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie AND a chocolate fountain for dessert. We could just enjoy, walk around the lake afterwards, sit by the huge fireplace later...I was totally shot down. The kiddos want me to make a traditional dinner.
Soo...tomorrow I'll be cooking a turkey for the third time in my life. Yeep! I told the kiddos they can help me in the kitchen too - if they want tradition they can help make it - mama doesn't need to spend the day alone in the kitchen while everyone else chills! At 10 and 12 they are big enough to peel potatoes and mash yams.
I bitch about the day of cooking and oh lord the dishes, but it will be lovely, just us, no timetable. And afterward, we'll play games in the living room with a fire in OUR fireplace, drink some ginger beer, be thankful for all we do have.

Date: 2016-11-23 04:41 pm (UTC)I'd tell the tale, but I'm pretty sure it's winding its way into my entry.
A hundred is a good number. You know I always wait til the last minute to post. For me, it's all about the pressure of the deadline.

Date: 2016-11-23 04:47 pm (UTC)Um, hi GR, I think I'm here? I can't sleep when the sun leaks light around room darkening shades, so I said forget it, I'll take a nap later :p
We always go to my extended family's for Thanksgiving. As usual, we're to bring two appetizers and a dessert. I'm not getting fancy like I normally do because of Overnight Pie Hell, so I'll be making my infamous spinach dip, my new-to-me spicy sausage-and-cheese bites, and cranberry pear crumble. I was going to do brownies too but someone else was assigned the task.
In the morning we'll go down to my SIL's to visit her and my MIL. There was a question as to what they would be doing for Thanksgiving since my BIL is out of town and their kids are scattered. My husband's other siblings are visit their in-laws so nobody's around except this SIL. Very weird.

Date: 2016-11-23 07:09 pm (UTC)We're going to my aunt's tomorrow for Thanksgiving where we all hope that my one cousin and her husband who are Trump supporters will not say anything to piss anyone off (there are plans in place for a walk-out). Friday, we're going up to Allentown, PA to visit my in-laws for the weekend and my sister-in-law is doing her annual cookie bake on Saturday.

Date: 2016-11-23 11:49 pm (UTC)I think I fixed my privacy issues on my journal. I have struggled umpteen times to post. Hope the seventh day and forgotten number of tries has worked. I'm way down at the bottom of page 9 I think.
Happy Thanksgiving America!
