" weirdly complex sub-juries of sub-juries (as the above described situation looks to me on first glance), I really liked the "fractional elimination" we used in LJ Shootout (the short lived photo contest run along similar lines to LJ idol for anyone else reading), which is to say in the case of a tie, both contestants are "50% eliminated," (or 33% in case of three-way-tie etc etc) which doesn't affect them at all until one of them reaches 100% eliminated. And I think there were some other rules like a "bye" caused you to be 33% eliminated so you COULD use two byes and hope you're never more than 33% eliminated or you could not. And in the first round there was only 50% of a person eliminated so no one was actually voted out the first round (and the first few rounds there were often multi way ties so at first it takes some repeated last place finishes to be eliminated). Altogether I found it a very nice streamlined "

If it's a tie, it goes to who needs the immunity to survive. It's only if that would cause someone else in that tie to go home that it goes to a revote. If *that* revote were to be a tie, then no one would get immunity.
