I have recently discovered that there are two types of reading, and therefore two types of books. Either it's 2-3 hours, armchair, blanket, tea, reading music, or it's 10 minutes at a time, on the bus, waiting to pick the kids up, in the bathroom, waiting for an appointment, whilst dinner's cooking, etc etc. So if you're an armchair-and-blanket reader, fast paced books can get a bit repetitive and you want something with more depth. But if you're an on-the-bus reader, slow character driven books can feel like a waste of your time. So you need to match the book to the style.
