Last night was sad at our house since we were rooting for the Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals. I know there's a ton of hockey fans in this group so you will know exactly what I'm talking about. ;) (On the other hand, Idol does traditionally have quite a few Canadians, and that is pumped into their bloodstream at birth. Some go ahead and do a full transfusion to get it out but most are too polite to risk offending someone by bothering them for a transfusion to get rid of a gift. ;) )
For those people who DO know what I'm talking about - for all of the "Hockey doesn't belong in Florida... I think it's time to start asking 'Does hockey belong in Canada?" The last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup was 1993!!! :O

Do you have anything exciting happening this week? I've been told to expect an email asking me to fill out a background check for one job I interviewed on. I also have a decent feeling about another one (who already had me fill out that background check paperwork pre-interview) plus of course all the other applications I've put out there over the past couple months. (I assume if I haven't heard *anything* in a couple weeks that it's a 'no", but honestly there were times when I was the hiring manager when we were SO swamped trying to keep up that I didn't have time to set up interviews. So maybe there is some hope on those as well.

Date: 2024-06-25 02:54 pm (UTC)Tomorrow is my last day of school, and I’m so ready for the break. I’ve only been teaching for a few months. I love it, I love the kids, but it’s exhausting at times. Then I should be visiting with two friends on Friday - one I haven’t seen in a few months because she got a new job that keeps her busy.
Then voting here in France this weekend, which is pretty scary. I can’t vote yet as I’m not a citizen but I’ll be watching the results closely. I feel like a lot of folks from the U.S. have no idea what’s going on here, but France is at the cusp of going fascist and it has a lot of us worried.

Date: 2024-06-25 06:09 pm (UTC)The "real" job is a swimming pool company, so of course, we are in the peak of season -- I work in the Service Dept 4 days a week and do the books 2 evenings a week. And have a WC Insurance audit (that I just finished last night) and a pending lawsuit from the owner's ex-brother (yes, you're reading that correctly) who blew through both his and boss's inheritance and now wants a piece of the business he walked away from in 2018, leaving it basically bankrupt. And of course, he pops up in our busy season hoping boss will say, "how much will you take to make this go away?" ... and we aren't going to do that. But it adds shit on me. Fun fun fun.

Date: 2024-06-25 07:15 pm (UTC)Heading into my hub's Beatles Birthday weekend,(turning 64), and babysitting 2/3 grandpeople on Saturday and Sunday. In the meantime, seeing friends, gardening, keeping up with house things, looking after the Mothership's care (which is daunting) and dodging all the roadwork/resurfacing projects going on simultaneously around town. It's Orange Cone Season! Oh joy!

I'm considering signing up, but it's been a really long time since I've written anything except a work report. Plus, the last time I said I would participate, I don't think I posted anything other than a signup entry. LOL Whether I sign up or not though, good luck to everyone here, and I look forward to reading your words.
