As a result of the AMA, people have been asking for the information on how to “give back” to Idol… (I suspect some of those people might also know when my birthday is, and aren’t being as clever as they think they are, BUT I’m not above being shameless, so I’m doing it anyway) obviously, the best way is to continue to vote and support your favorites! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/695255.html
Even better, tell a friend or three about Idol! Go forth and spread the good word!
I did put a link to our "Tip Jar" in yesterday’s Green Room, figuring that it would get buried… but the link didn’t work, so I need to post it again! Right here!
If you *really* want to donate, proceeds go directly to me. No charity. No child in a third world country will eat for a month for the price of your coffee. It will go to me. Well, let’s be honest, it will go to the grocery store, and hopefully, in the near future, it will go to the dentist for the root canal that I’ve been putting off for the last couple of months…
If you like books, music, electronics and well, pretty much everything – you should check out the Idol store at Amazon! Just click the link and shop like normal, OR go through and see all of the great stuff from former Idol contestants/and various Friends of Idol!!
Note: We now have the links for ADRIFT! Which started out here in Idol as a series of entries and is now a book! So go check it out in both paperback http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20/detail/0980508428 and for your Kindle! http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20/detail/B00F52ZC2E

So there you go, people who were asking!
Those of you who were not asking, you can now resume your “frist” battle, and telling each other what a “REAL” Miss America looks like!
Even better, tell a friend or three about Idol! Go forth and spread the good word!

Date: 2013-09-17 02:26 pm (UTC)There are all kinds of wrong with that sentence. I need more coffee. I also need my internet to stop being wonky when I want it. I have something I need to write this week and I need to get cracking on it.

Date: 2013-09-17 02:28 pm (UTC)I'm off from work today and I'm emotionally spent, which is different from my usual physical spent. I'm trying to be kind to myself. It's difficult.

Date: 2013-09-17 06:34 pm (UTC)I think I'm coming down sick. There is a party Thursday night at the new downtown library which promises to be fabulous (but I absolutely must bring my phone to refresh the poll over and over again). I am loving the cooler weather here. I have something like thirty tabs open and have barely glanced at any of them. There is not enough chocolate in this house.
Also, I'll be watching The Prestige tomorrow because a friend was all "wargh! How have you not seen this movie?" and insisted on coming over with the dvd to see it with me. What movies are on your "how have I not seen this" list, or, alternatively, what movies do you insist on showing friends if they haven't seen them yet because they're just that good?

Last of The Mohekains
A lot of Jim Carry
Steal magnolias
That aside I saw the series premier of Sleepy Hollow and thought it was great. Right along the lines of Buffy and Angel. Same type of drama and comady mix.

Date: 2013-09-17 07:14 pm (UTC)Edit: See, the thing is, I knew it would be intrinsically interesting to ask YOU questions. That was a gimme. It's much harder to imagine people being all "oh yeah, that mirror girl person, there's a question I've been just dying to ask her." I'm certainly game to play, but I it feels weird.

Date: 2013-09-17 10:08 pm (UTC)More questions!
Date: 2013-09-17 11:10 pm (UTC)1. What are some of the things you do to goof off on the internet?
2. What are some of the things you do to goof off OFF of the internet?
3. Do you have any pets? Now would be a fine time to post cute pictures of them. Just sayin'.
Re: More questions!
Date: 2013-09-17 11:23 pm (UTC)1. Oh man, so much. Lately I've been playing Flight Rising (http://flightrising.com/) and messing around with dragons. I also read a lot of random things, and there are several webcomics in my daily or weekly rotation (girl genius, xkcd, and dinosaur comics are the ones that spring immediately to mind).
2. I play a lot of games. Right now I'm playing a lot of Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and Magic the Gathering on my PS3. I try to get together with friends at least weekly to play board games like Settlers of Catan, Fluxx, Dominion, or Agricola. I make a lot of stuff: I crochet (slowly), paint (badly), cook meals for my friends (usually more tasty than not), sew and quilt (badly). And I've been very lazily studying Japanese for a while now. Also reading - there are huge piles of books stacked on top of the huge piles of games in my house.
3. I am owned by two cats! They're pretty great. Stranger is 12 years old and grumpy in the charming way that only cat owners find charming. Bubbles Adventure The Rompus is 2 and crazy in the way that kittens are. She hasn't gotten the memo yet that 2 years old isn't kitten age any more. I used to own a couple of little African dwarf frogs, but that was a while ago... I need to get a new aquarium set up one of these days.

Date: 2013-09-18 12:24 am (UTC)2. What is that? No, seriously, as much as my internet has broken lately, what I've done a lot of is listen to the same freaking audio books over and over and over and over.
3. I have 3 cats, and I recently did a pic spam in the green room of them, so I will spare everyone.
Re: More questions3
Date: 2013-09-18 02:51 am (UTC)2. Read. Play board games with people. Destroy my soul watching anime where you can't trust characters living or dying.
3. One pretty kitty. The other kitty in this photo is no longer living with us, but the mostly-white cat is my bb, Jasmine. The striped kitty sitting next to her is Mel's cat, Cosmo. He's a giant sweetie but Jasmine didn't like him, much. <3
Re: More questions!
Date: 2013-09-18 10:50 am (UTC)2. There is such a thing? I read, watch films or series (granted, on another computer mostly), arts & crafts to varying degrees of success (and I need to start again), ventured into a bit of baking as well.
3. I have 4 cats (Hades, 12; Freyja, 9; Loki and Saga (5 months) and 3 fishes. The two oldest cats have health issues so it's not easy to keep up with.
Hades:
Freyja:
Loki:
Saga:
Fishes (while their tank was being cleaned):
Apologies for the huge photos. Didn't think they were that big.
More questions
Date: 2013-09-17 11:57 pm (UTC)Re: More questions
Date: 2013-09-18 12:16 am (UTC)2. It varies. I write a lot at my cluttered desk. Very often I take my laptop and write downstairs at the kitchen table. One of my friends opens his house to any of us who want to get out and away from distractions, and so I will sometimes go and write on his couch or at his dining room table instead of mine. The spaces I write in are generally have good natural light, are cluttered like whoa, and there's some sort of music going in the background.
3. Ahahahaha picking favorites. That's hard. I'm kind of fond of Clara (http://lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com/35024.html). And Harmony (http://lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com/39555.html), of course.
You?
