As a result of the AMA, people have been asking for the information on how to “give back” to Idol… (I suspect some of those people might also know when my birthday is, and aren’t being as clever as they think they are, BUT I’m not above being shameless, so I’m doing it anyway) obviously, the best way is to continue to vote and support your favorites! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/695255.html

Even better, tell a friend or three about Idol! Go forth and spread the good word!

I did put a link to our "Tip Jar" in yesterday’s Green Room, figuring that it would get buried… but the link didn’t work, so I need to post it again! Right here!
If you *really* want to donate, proceeds go directly to me. No charity. No child in a third world country will eat for a month for the price of your coffee. It will go to me. Well, let’s be honest, it will go to the grocery store, and hopefully, in the near future, it will go to the dentist for the root canal that I’ve been putting off for the last couple of months…

If you like books, music, electronics and well, pretty much everything – you should check out the Idol store at Amazon! Just click the link and shop like normal, OR go through and see all of the great stuff from former Idol contestants/and various Friends of Idol!!

Note: We now have the links for ADRIFT! Which started out here in Idol as a series of entries and is now a book! So go check it out in both paperback http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20/detail/0980508428 and for your Kindle! http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20/detail/B00F52ZC2E

So there you go, people who were asking!

Those of you who were not asking, you can now resume your “frist” battle, and telling each other what a “REAL” Miss America looks like!

I always remember ninjas. And they remember me, mwahahahaha.

Let's see... we'll start with one I know is safe, since I tested the waters with it yesterday. ;)

1. What book have you read most recently, and what did you think of it?
2. Superpower of choice?
3. Favorite author?

1. The Ocean at the End of the Lane, preceded by Regarding Ducks and Universes, The Lola Quartet, and Liars and Outliars.

2. "How about the power to kill a yak from 200 yards away ... with mind bullets!" (Tenacious D, "Wonderboy")

3. That's sort of a tough one. (Because, when is it not?) I learn different lessons from different writers, so there are different seasons for each. Depending on the day, I'd say either Stephen King or T.S. Eliot.

Ocean at the End of the Lane is the last book I finished too! And Regarding Ducks and Universes has been sitting on my kindle for a while now. One of these days, one of these days...

*makes careful note of your desire to mutilate yaks*

I feel it's a little unfair for me to ask questions like "what's your favorite $anything?" since I am so rotten at answering them. Still, I do it anyway. I am also an Eliot and King fangirl. [livejournal.com profile] halfshellvenus wrote an absolutely BRILLIANT poem in the style of Prufrock a while ago - I highly recommend it.

Fun fact: wrote my senior thesis in high school on 'The Wasteland'.

The novel I'm currently working on is sort of homage to "Ash-Wednesday" and Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "The Lost Bower." (Done in the style of Inception.) So I keep my Eliot pretty close at hand, these days.

Oh man. That sounds like an epic novel of awesomeness, and right in line with my personal tastes. I hope you'll keep us (or me at least) updated as you make progress on it.

I'm sure I'll find a way to spread the word. ;-) I think I have 55,000 words on it so far, about a third of which I've edited for clarity. And edited again. And again. And ...

Yeah -- when compared to longform, my Idol entries look slapdash.
