Listen.

Do you want to know a secret?

Do you promise not to tell?

Closer.

Let me whisper in your ear.

Say these words you long to hear:

LJ IDOL SIGN UPS ARE HAPPENING!!! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/711493.html

That's right. They are happening right now! It closes on Monday evening, so if you know people who haven't jumped on this train, they are going to end up in front of it, and standing in front of a train never ends well. Unless, of course, you are Superman, and then it doesn't end well for the train. But fortunately, this is a train made out of Kryptonite. So if are you Superman, you are about to get a nasty surprise!

If you have chosen the correct path though, Week 0 entries are due on Monday as well: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/712370.html for those who wish to get that ball rolling.

Yes, sometimes it's a train and sometimes it's a ball! Next time it might be a man-eating tiger, or perhaps a woman-eating tiger, or a facebook tiger which is finally recognizing that it's not binary and giving you options of different gender variations that it likes to eat!

***

What are you doing this weekend?

Yay balls and tigers and Facebook and Green rooms and stuff. :)

Currently catching up on Hawaii 5-0 with the hubby, then I'll be heading out to Kohl's to get a new purse, the strap is almost worn out on my old one.

I am in a much better mood than I was yesterday morning.

Or pretty much all day, yesterday.

That might be because I'm writing, even if it is slow going, because I am sooooo tireddddd right now. But I need to go downstairs and start laundry and then somehow stay awake long enough to not fuck up sleeping before work.

I really don't know how I do this, jumping from working 3rd shift to 1st shift to 2nd shift and back to 3rd shift. It's really quite inhuman, especially when during the week I'm my son's primary childcare person. Hm.

Doing universe building, character sketches, and plot-outlining for serial fiction. Just ... not the set of stories I thought I'd be doing. So that was a lot of good work heading in the opposite-from-intended direction!

Next up: cycle the laundry, walk the dog, and make some wine!

What a coincidence, Gary. I was just going to say what I'm doing this weekend is reading Idol introductions. According to my spreadsheet, I have commented on 82 percent of the entries I've read, which is pretty awesome for me, and I attribute that to my cats all being comatose after gorging on cat food.

Or maybe they're mad at me.

Today is apparently also National Cupcake Day! So enjoy a cupcake with the special woman/women in your life. Nom nom nom!

Sign-ups are still happening??>>

If I had the bandwidth, I'd definitely sign up, but I don't like making promises I can't keep though...

*waves to everyone*

Mmmm. Like I need an excuse to eat a cupcake - my favorite!

Are you trying to tell us what to do?

You think you're in charge, is that it? You think you run this place?

IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK??!?

Well, I have just one thing to say, to you, mister:

YesSirRightAwayMisterGarySirWhatEverYouWantBossPleaseDon'tHurtMe....

I did try to get a friend to sign up for Idol

... and she's a female friend, too! But she said "No", on the grounds that she doesn't see how she can possibly keep up with the traditional Idol schedule she usually works weekends, 12+ hours each day being typical.

I am trying to get more people into Idol, Gary. I really am.

I walked out in the middle of a movie today. For the first time in my life. It was horrible, and senseless, and did not do one of my favourite books any kind of justice. *disgusted*

So if it so happens they show the Russian movie "Hard to be a god" where you are, well, be careful with it.

Because maybe it's just me, but my friend had the same reaction, and then while we dithered near the entrance of the auditorium for a while, several more people walked out as well.

I'm at work today and tomorrow. Every third weekend I get to play supervisor as well as children's librarian. I've already done storytime for the day, the final showing of our Africa theme. My favorite part was the insanely loud percussion parade we did to say thank you for the rain falling on the savannah.

Tonight, I'm going to try The Gasthaus, a German restaurant near here, with a good friend I haven't seen in over a year! We live in the same town but we never seem to have matching schedules. So, here's to good beer and good friends on the weekend!

I've never heard of that movie, but I can imagine that if it is Hard to be a God, it is equally hard to make a movie about one!

Wow. I just looked it up, and one reviewer said "Absolutely brutal and innovative masterpiece!" Brutal isn't really my speed - I'm watching the final episodes of Breaking Bad and feeling ill from the violence!

It's about historians studying another planet 800 years behind theirs in development by living there. You can see a lot of possibilities.

The creators showed the dirt, and blood, and tears, and nothing else, I think.

I agree with brutal, but I did not quite get what was innovative about it.

We have a German restaurant that I love called the Hofbrauhaus, about an hour away from us. My favorite entree is the Heidelberger Rahm Spatzle: pulled Chicken And Spatzle
sauteed with caramelized onions and field mushrooms tossed into a marsala cream sauce. Om nom nom!

Enjoy your dinner with your friend!

Pillsbury makes sugar-free cake mixes in both Devil's Food and Yellow (whatever flavor "yellow" is) varieties, and frosting too.

Even though I'm diabetic, I still eat the occasional cupcake, I'm just careful about the amount of frosting I consume, which is where the majority of the sugar is.

It does sound like an interesting concept. I'm sorry that the movie didn't live up to the book - so many don't!

Sounds like you're having a busy day! What sort of wine are you making?

But..... but... if I promise not to tell, I can't get more people to sign up. :P

I've been reading the entries, and commenting sporadically - my hands have been hurting a lot lately (sigh, gotta see the doctor soon) and so I have to do my internetting and writing in short bursts.

This weekend I'm going to work on porting the choose-your-own-adventure game I wrote to Avail, the programming language my sweetie and friends have been developing. Also, there will be board games and tasty spaghetti sauce and possibly watching some more Voyager on Netflix (we've been working our way through the Treks for a bit now).
